Since the mid-80s, he has been exploring the beauty of the Red Sea, holding certifications from world leading diving organizations such as SSI, PADI, CMAS, and SDI.
Karim’s breadth and depth of experience allowed him to hold several leadership roles all around Egypt. Head of the Diving Union in South Sinai,he championed safety, training, and worked closely with national parks and environmental affairs agencies worldwide to ensure sustainable diving practices throughout the region.
Karim Noor — Founder & Managing Director
Karim started diving in 1986 and turned professional four years later. Thirty-eight years on, the Red Sea remains the foundation — but the Maldives, the Sea of Cortez, South Africa, Thailand, Indonesia, Cyprus, Aqaba, and Oman have all shaped how VLV sees the wider world and the opportunities within it.
He has run the Diving Union in South Sinai, built Deep South Ecolodge & Dive Club in Marsa Alam from the ground up, lectured at the Chamber of Diving and Water Sports, contributed to HEPCA’s conservation work, coordinated at COP27, produced a British documentary on Red Sea Semaymia, and founded 3alganoob — a music festival on the desert coast that people still travel for every year. He is also the author of two novels — State of the General and Ballad of the Outsiders — which perhaps says as much about how VLV approaches its work as any project list could.
As the Founder of Deep South Ecolodge and Dive Club in Marsa Alam since 2000, Karim has pioneered eco-tourism initiatives that seamlessly merge outdoor adventure with conservation efforts. By creating a vision that balances guest experiences with environmental stewardship, he has established Deep South as a destination that promotes responsible travel practices and supports local communities.
Recognized as an influential figure in the diving industry, Karim also serves as a lecturer at the Chamber of Diving and Water Sports, sharing his knowledge on hospitality, and environmental protection and conservation. His dedication to sustainable development is evident through his involvement in organizing events for the Resilient Cities organization and his extensive collaboration with Greenpeace during COP27. Through his consultancy work, he continues to inspire individuals and organizations to embrace sustainable practices and contribute to a more environmentally conscious future.
